Financial Controller (PACE Group)
Role
PACE Canada is seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Finance Manager with a CPA designation to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, particularly under IFRS and ASPE, and will be adept at leveraging technology to streamline financial processes.
This role will play a key part in supporting the Financial Controller and the Board of Directors, managing the financial operations across multiple entities, and developing enhanced reporting tools and processes. The role offers hands-on experience of a wide range of finance and commercial related tasks and activities in a rapidly growing company.
You’ll have the autonomy and freedom to set your own path towards achieving your goals, with the trust and independence to make key decisions and manage your responsibilities.
Company
PACE Canada is entering an exciting period of growth and evolution. Our business strategy is to use our international solar PV and energy storage project pipeline as the foundation to build a platform that includes asset ownership and investment management. We have a pipeline of over 1.5GW of projects in the UK, Canada and Poland and aim to construct over 200MW of projects in 2024 and 2025 and continue to grow the operations side of the business.
Responsibilities
Provide financial analysis such as tracking against business plan and managing the liquidity requirements of assets including payment approvals
Provide commercial finance support to the Financial Controller and Board
Involvement in relationship and reporting to joint venture partners, where PACE’s ownership is not 100%
Reporting for assigned entities – monthly closing of accounting books, forecasting, business planning, liquidity, statutory accounts and tax compliance, and other supplementary reporting
Reviewing existing management information to find efficiencies and improvements.
Occasional meets with the wider Canadian team based in Calgary, Alberta.
Occasional further travel may be required from time to time.
Create a forward looking finance and accounting function that uses all available and new technologies, AI etc.

Canadian citizenship or right to work in Canada
CPA or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Technically strong in IFRS & ASPE reporting

Ideal
Appropriate training in financial modelling including Excel
Experience of and willingness to embrace digital accounting and platforms such as Xero
Digitally capable with the ability to work with PACE IT systems and collaborative tools, i.e. Google apps, Xero, GAccon, including ability to implement macros, coding, etc.
Experience in the renewables sector
International exposure
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Understand the importance of process and procedures, paying attention to detail and fully documenting work
